Privacy Policy

Welcome to karolumely.com! We are a platform that provides educational services in the field of artificial intelligence and information technology — webinars, workshops and courses. This privacy policy applies to users of our platform and forms part of our Terms & Conditions.

By using our platform you agree that the personal data you provide to us directly, or that we collect through your use of the platform, may be processed and stored in the Slovak Republic and the Czech Republic, and that it will be handled as described in this policy.

Controller

The controller of personal data is Busik&Partners, s.r.o., with its registered office at Nové sady 988/2, Staré Brno, 602 00 Brno, Czech Republic, Company ID (IČO): 21445389, registered in the Commercial Register maintained by the Regional Court in Brno, Section C, Insert 138671 (not a VAT payer). For any questions regarding the protection of personal data you can contact us at [email protected].

Users and management of the user account

A user is a person who uses our services by taking the courses and events offered through the platform. To become a user, you must create an account in accordance with our Terms & Conditions. Depending on your situation, you may be asked to provide a combination of the following identification and contact details:

  • business name / first name and surname,
  • address / place of residence / registered office,
  • Company ID (IČO) / Tax ID (DIČ) / date of birth,
  • telephone number, e-mail address.

Providing the identification and contact details is a contractual requirement, and therefore a user account cannot be created if they are not provided.

Payments

If you choose to pay online when using the service, you provide your payment details to our payment processor, Stripe. You can view the payment processor's privacy policy on its website. At this time we do not obtain your full payment card number — we work only with a token representing your account, the card expiry date, the card type and the last four digits of the card number. If you are required to provide the payment processor with your name and e-mail address, the payment processor will also provide us with this data.

Through our platform we also collect and process data about the contractual relationship, such as its start, the type of your subscription, the courses you have completed and the like. The legal basis for this processing is the negotiation or performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). The data will be processed for this purpose for the duration of our contractual relationship; thereafter some data may continue to be processed on the basis of our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in protecting our rights and property, for up to the statutory limitation periods.

Automatically collected data

We may collect some data automatically when you browse our pages or through third-party analytics providers. We may store data about sign-in, settings and user-account activity (for example time data, browser and operating-system information, IP address, and information about the last page visited). Your location can also be derived from the data you have made available to us, from your IP address and from your payment card.

This purpose of processing includes ensuring the security, availability and performance of the platform, as well as its further development. The legal basis is our legitimate interests in providing quality services (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The data will be processed for as long as necessary to fulfil this purpose.

Cookies

We use cookies on our website that collect data enabling us and third parties to understand how you use the platform. For more information, see our Cookie Policy.

We never sell your data to third parties. Except for lecturers, we will share data with third parties only in the following cases:

  • with our service providers who cooperate with us contractually in providing services such as e-mail management, data analysis, payment processing, brand-awareness building, or fraud detection and prevention. These companies are contractually obliged to protect your data to the same extent as we do;
  • to protect the security or integrity of the platform and to protect rights, property or safety, where we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with a generally binding legal regulation, a court decision or another binding decision of a public authority;

By agreeing to our Terms & Conditions, you expressly agree that we may:

  • provide you with information about our services, their improvements or new products when you are on our pages or using the platform,
  • send you messages relating to your current use of the services by e-mail,
  • send you e-mails about services other than those you currently use, from which you can unsubscribe at any time,
  • send you marketing e-mails if you do not have a platform account but have agreed to receive them, from which you can unsubscribe.

The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interests in maintaining contact with the customer (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The data will be processed for this purpose until you refuse to receive notifications or raise an objection, but no longer than the duration of our contractual relationship.

You can object to the use of your data for marketing purposes at any time, free of charge, both at the point of data collection and in each individual marketing communication. By unsubscribing you will stop receiving further marketing e-mails. Processing an unsubscribe request may take up to 30 days. Turning off e-mail notifications

You can change your e-mail notification settings in your account settings. Even though the settings allow you to stop notifications, we will continue to send you certain e-mails that are essential to using the services.

Verifying requests

User accounts are protected by a password. If you submit a request to exercise your privacy rights, you will be asked to verify the request by signing in to your account. If we are unable to verify your request, we reserve the right to reject it for your protection.

GDPR compliance

We comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We act as a data controller and process personal data on the basis of our legitimate interests and contractual necessity in providing the services, as described in the section "How we use your data". Your personal data will not be transferred to countries outside the European Union unless this is necessary for the performance of a contract or for another reason in accordance with the rules for such transfers under the GDPR.

Exercising the rights of the data subject

In relation to the data we manage as controller, you may have, in particular, the following rights under the GDPR:

  • the right of access to personal data,
  • the right to request the correction of inaccurate data or the completion of incomplete data,
  • the right to request the prompt erasure of the data being processed, where one of the grounds under the legislation applies,
  • the right to request a temporary restriction of processing,
  • the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests, or for the purposes of direct marketing,
  • the right to withdraw consent to processing at any time,
  • the right to portability of personal data, where the conditions under the legislation are met.

You can exercise your rights with us by accessing and editing your data in your account settings, by reviewing this policy, by unsubscribing from marketing, or by contacting us at [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — the Office for Personal Data Protection of the Slovak Republic.

Security

Securing your personal data is important to us, and we follow industry standards when protecting it.

Changes

We may change this policy from time to time. If we make material changes that adversely affect your rights, we will let you know by publishing a notice on the website, or by sending an e-mail, before the changes take effect.
